◇ Unity Law Group was founded with a clear vision: to create a law firm that takes the idea of legal representation and broadens, deepens, and improves on it as much as possible. Our firm’s founder Fred S. Peters is the managing partner of Unity Law Group. Fred is a lifelong advocate who fought for equal treatment of the LGBTQ community when he was barely old enough to drive. He stood up to hate and oppression as an ally to that community in a very conservative environment, for which he was given national recognition and about which he has spoken to audiences nationwide. Fred co-founded, along with the eventual creator of the Occupy Wall Street movement, a national organization of college and university student groups who were founded to resist oppression and religious discrimination.
This early work advocating for others, fighting for rights when most of his peers turned their backs to the problems facing their generation, led him down the path towards becoming an attorney. Fred attributes much of his legal career and ability to his family and upbringing. Fred was raised by jazz musicians, public school teachers, and brilliant, iconoclastic standouts in their professions, leaders who challenged the status quo//.. His great-grandfather, for example, was an Indiana Supreme Court Justice who fought the KKK in the 1900’s and won. Fred’s values are steeped in the concepts of equality, unity, and the value of diversity. His Long Beach, California law firm aims to express and extend those values to the community. Fred has dedicated well over 1,000 hours of his time to clients, charities, and other organizations by providing pro-bono legal assistance and advocacy to those whose access to justice is limited. This spirt of service is part of his, and this firm’s DNA. When someone needs a voice, when a story needs to be told, Unity Law Group will speak, it will tell that story to the world. Those are not just words on a website or a plaque on the wall. Those are the values Fred has lived by, embodied throughout his adult life, and which he and Unity Law will stand for, always.
